Arrival at Campsite

Complete setup procedure for motorhomes at the campsite

01 Positioning & Levelling

Position and level the motorhome on the pitch

  • Assess pitch for hazards, hookups, and clearance

    Check for overhanging branches, soft ground, room for awning

  • Position motorhome on pitch

    Use reversing camera and assistant if tight

  • Apply parking brake firmly Safety-critical

  • Check level side-to-side and front-to-back

    Use spirit level or built-in indicator

  • Level with ramps or levelling system

  • Chock wheels on both sides Safety-critical

  • Lower corner steadies or deploy stabiliser jacks

    These reduce movement; they do not level the vehicle

02 Electrical Connection

Connect to campsite mains power

  • Ensure motorhome consumer unit / RCD is off Safety-critical

  • Fully uncoil EHU cable Safety-critical

    Never leave coiled; fire risk from heat buildup

  • Connect EHU cable to motorhome inlet first Safety-critical

    Always connect to vehicle before bollard

  • Connect EHU cable to site bollard

    Use adaptor if connector type differs

  • Switch on motorhome RCD / consumer unit

  • Test RCD by pressing test button Safety-critical

    RCD should trip when tested, then reset

03 Water System

Set up water supply

  • Fill onboard tank or connect to site water

    Use pressure regulator for site water connection

  • Ensure all drain-down valves are closed

  • Close all taps

  • Switch on water pump

  • Prime cold water by running each tap until flow

  • Prime hot water by running each hot tap

  • Check for leaks at all connections

04 Gas & Heating

Connect gas and start appliances

  • Open gas cylinder valve

  • Turn on interior gas isolation valve

  • Test hob briefly to confirm gas flow

    Check for a clean blue flame

  • Switch on fridge

    Mains electric preferred when on hookup

  • Switch on water heater

    Only after water system is confirmed full

  • Switch on space heating if needed

05 Interior Setup

Prepare the living space

  • Prepare toilet cassette with chemicals

  • Open roof vents for ventilation

  • Test smoke alarm Safety-critical

  • Test carbon monoxide alarm Safety-critical

  • Note fire point location and emergency numbers

  • Verify all systems: kettle, hot water, fridge, toilet

06 Exterior Setup

Set up outdoor living space

  • Deploy entry step

  • Set up outdoor furniture
