Short-Term Storage

Quick preparation for short storage between trips (approximately one week)

01 Water & Waste

Manage water and waste systems

  • Empty and rinse toilet cassette

  • Drain grey water tank

  • Drain water system if frost risk below 5C

    Above freezing, water can safely remain in the system

  • Drain system if storing longer than 2 weeks

    Prevents stagnation and bacterial growth

02 Power & Gas

Manage power and gas

  • Close main gas valve at cylinder Safety-critical

  • Switch off all gas appliances

  • Leave on hookup or disconnect 12V loads

    Hookup provides beneficial trickle charging for both batteries

03 Interior

Clean and ventilate interior

  • Remove all perishable food

  • Remove all rubbish and food waste

    Crumbs attract vermin even in short periods

  • Wipe down surfaces

  • Switch off fridge and prop door ajar

    For storage over one week

  • Ensure vents are clear; open locker doors

04 Engine & Cab

Secure engine and cab area

  • Apply handbrake and leave in gear/Park Safety-critical

    Safe for short-term; release for long-term storage

  • Close all cab windows

  • Remove valuables from visible areas in cab

05 Exterior

Secure exterior

  • Retract or stow the step

  • Raise steadies or retract jacks

  • Close and lock all external lockers

06 Security

Secure the motorhome

  • Lock all doors including habitation and cab

  • Lock all windows and hatches

  • Fit wheel clamp if required by insurance
